MSP Foundation training and certification

The MSP Foundation course is designed for people that are interested in learning how to manage multiple projects and programmes successfully.

The course provides the theoretical knowledge of how to plan, manage and deliver programmes from start to finish. It is designed to support programme or project managers and those working in a programme office, business change managers and/or programme and project delivery team members. The course provides a greater understanding of the MSP guidance to work more effectively in large scale project or programme environments.

Following the completion of the course participants should:

  • Understand key concepts relating to programmes and MSP
  • Understand how the MSP principles underpin the MSP framework
  • Understand the MSP themes and how they are applied throughout the programme
  • Understand the MSP processes and how they are carried out throughout the programme
  • Pass the MSP Foundation exam

  • Project managers/senior project managers
  • Business change managers
  • Other key staff involved in the design, development and delivery of projects, including project board members (e.g. executive), project assurance, and project support
  • Operational line managers/staff (e.g. process owners) operating within a programme environment
  • Other key staff involved in the design, development and delivery of programmes, including: programme board members (e.g. senior responsible owner), programme assurance, and programme management office personnel
  • Portfolio management staff
  • Specialist programme staff

  • 1 hour (75 minutes for non-native speakers)
  • 60 questions
  • Objective Test Questions
  • 60% pass mark
  • Closed book

Upon successful completion of the exam and following confirmation of the results, the participants will receive a unique, secure and auditable electronic certificate from PeopleCert.

It is desirable, but not essential, that participants have some work-experience on programmes. Some pre-read material is provided prior to the training and is expected to be fully read before attending the course.

The material includes the official MSP digital Manual, case study, exercises and solutions, MSP Glossary, Foundation test-exams and hints & tips for the Foundation Examination.
